Faith & Work: A Conversation on Tension, Hope, and Support
In this morning’s Health & Wellness cohort, we explored a powerful and nuanced question:
How is faith both a hindrance and a help in our work?
We acknowledged that, in today’s shifting cultural and political climate, openly expressing Christian faith in professional spaces can feel risky. Some shared that simply being identified as a Christian can lead to distrust or dismissal. Environmental pressures to conform can be strong—and it takes deep intentionality to navigate internal biases without imposing personal beliefs on those we serve. The challenge lies in discerning how much of our faith to share, and when doing so may cause harm rather than healing.
And yet, faith fuels the work.
It anchors us in hope.
It reminds us that Christ is present in and through us.
It assures us that God is good, even when we sit in the midst of others’ pain—and that we don’t need to gloss over the hard parts to see His presence there.
It expands our capacity for compassion, allowing us to show up with gentleness and grace.
When asked how Needle’s Eye Ministries can support in this tension, the answers were clear and heartfelt: We long for authentic conversations. We need to share the struggle. And most importantly—we want to remember that we’re not alone.
