Juneteenth Lunch

  • Needle's Eye Faith & Work Community 104 Berrington Court Richmond, VA, 23221 United States (map)

(If you can’t attend the lunch, scroll down for prayer prompts and join us in prayer today wherever you are.)

On Juneteenth, Needle’s Eye invites you to join us in rejoicing in the “already” of what God has done in our world and marketplace, and praying into the many “not yet” places where we long to see His Kingdom come and His will to be done.

We will host a special lunch at our office for fellowship and prayer for God’s will to be done in our nation, our city, and our workplaces.

Prayer for unity and the glory of Christ

Jesus,

We are told in Your Word that, in You, we are all children of God through faith. There is no longer Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, male nor female, but we are all one in You Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26-28).

I thank you for the power and beauty of this truth. I thank you for where I see and experience this kind of unity in the family of God.

[Thank God for where you see this kind of love and unity among God’s children-at work, at home, in your neighborhood, church, etc. Give God praise for His work and love.]

Your Word says that You are our peace and You have broken down the dividing wall of hostility-between us and God but also between groups of people as You created one new humanity, built on You as our chief cornerstone (Ephesians 2:14-22).

Jesus, continue to break down the dividing walls of hostility that still exist. Break down the resistance people have to worshiping you and being reconciled to God through Your sacrifice. Break down the hostility between people and groups, hostility that even can exist between Christians.

[Pray into the places where you see hostility and division. Ask God to break down the walls between people, between Christians, between dear friends and loved ones, between mankind and true worship of God. Confess your own hostility and resistance to others, as needed, and ask God to forgive you and soften your heart.]

Jesus, You gave us this command: “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35). Jesus, fill me with Your love for others, Your sacrificial, unconditional love.

Help me to especially love those who I have trouble loving, because doing so will give You glory and show Your love to the world.

Thank You that the battle is over, the victory is won.

Be glorified in our world, our nation, our city, my home, my church, my workplace, and my heart.

Amen.
